Aluigi Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG from Le Cinciole
A strong "Panzanese" from Sangiovese
Valeria and Luca Orsini produce authentic wines full of character with corners and edges that are anything but mainstream in Le Cinciole. And this description also fits in any case to the Aluigi Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG. This red wine was added to the range for the first time in 2012. The Aluigi is a real "Panzanese", because it consists of 100 per cent Sangiovese grapes, the autochthonous grape variety of Tuscany par excellence. The grapes, carefully selected, are vinified at controlled temperature in cement tanks for about four weeks. Then malolactic fermentation takes place also in cement tanks. For a period of 24 months, the wine matures in a 5,000 litre French oak barrel. After bottling, the wine is left to mature for at least another six months. And then you can enjoy an ideal companion to a proper piece of meat - for example a nice steak. With intense sour cherry aroma, lots of power and soft tannins on the palate. Cheers and Good Appetite!
The wine assortment with the unmistakable terroir of Panzano
In addition to the "star of Tuscany" - the Sangiovese grape - on the slopes of Le Cinciole grow international grape varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, albeit to a much lesser extent. The lion’s share among the grapes of Valeria and Luca has undoubtedly the autochthonous Sangiovese. All of the following wines are enterely made of Sangiovese: the palatable Le Cinciole Chianti Classico DOCG, the strong Aluigi Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG and the Petresco Toscana IGT, the top-quality wine of the house. The Rosato Toscana IGT from Le Cinciole is also produced exclusively from Sangiovese grapes. The international grapes are used for two of the six wines from Le Cinciole: the mighty Camalaione is a blend of 70 per cent Cabernet Sauvignon, 15 per cent Syrah and 15 per cent Merlot. The grapes for this wine are from the oldest vines of the estate. For the "little brother" of the big Camalaione, the Cinciorosso, are used grapes from young vineyards: 70 per cent Sangiovese, 15 per cent Cabernet Sauvignon, 10 per cent Syrah and 5 per cent Merlot. But what all wines from Le Cinciole have in common - whether international or not - is the unmistakable taste of the terroir of Panzano in Chianti. You can taste and feel it with every sip of Podere Le Cinciole.
Podere Le Cinciole: a typical vineyard in Tuscany in harmony with nature.
Living in harmony with nature and creating a bio cycle with the environment is both a challenge and an attitude to life. This is the challenge that the owners of Le Cinciole have been facing since the early 1990s, when they took over the estate. Although the two winegrowers were absolute lateral entrants, they quickly realised how important it was to switch to organic farming. Valeria and Luca understand biology as a cycle. In other words, what is in Le Cinciole remains in Le Cinciole - with the exception of course of the wines and the oil which are sold as a final product. The organic remainder is recycled on the large compost and then returned to the large cycle. The electricity that is needed in Le Cinciole - for the work in the vineyard, for the guests or in the wine cellar - is generated by the family. And with solar panels that align themselves according to the course of the sun. Thus pesticides are absolutely taboo - roses act as a "mildew early warning system" and herbs, cereals and flowers between the rows of vines ensure the ecological balance in the vineyard. Le Cinciole has been certified organic since 2002.
Dream vacation in Tuscany with the Organic Plus
In the last 20 years, Valeria and Luca Orsini have succeeded in building up an exemplary winery in the middle of the most famous wine region in the world - Chianti Classico. What can be found in most wineries today, can also be found in Le Cinciole: an agriturismo where you can spend your holidays. Two apartments await Tuscany lovers in the Le Cinciole winery. The two apartments with the resounding names Ginestra and Corbezzolo are lovingly furnished and are suitable for four people each. Here you can spend your holiday amidst the organic vineyards - even the electricity for the apartment comes from your own solar system - the view from the window wanders over the medieval houses and towers of Panzano in Chianti. And by the pool: vineyards and forests as far as the eye can see. In addition, the most beautiful excursion destinations in Tuscany - Castellina, Siena or Florence - are only a few kilometres away. The perfect conditions for a perfect holiday!

Vinous | 91 points "A new wine from the property, the 2012 Chianti Classico Riserva Aluigi is absolutely delicious. There is terrific intensity and pliancy to the ripe red cherry fruit, while the wine's balance is impeccable. Bold, and expressive, even in its youth, the 2012 will drink well for another decade or so. The purity of fruit that is a signature of the best wines from the property is very much in evidence." - Antonio Galloni |
