Chianti Classico DOCG from Le Cinciole
100% Sangiovese, 100% organic, 100% Panzano, 100% pleasure
The basis of the Le Cinciole range is the Chianti Classico. It is made one hundred per cent from the autochthonous leading variety of the Chianti Classico, the Sangiovese. The grapes are harvested by hand, during which they are pre-selected. The quality of the grapes is then checked once again with great care on the vibrating sorting line. For alcoholic fermentation, the grapes are placed in cement tanks for about 15 days at a maximum temperature of 28 degrees, where the wine also undergoes malolactic fermentation. The young wine is then allowed to mature for twelve months in large, traditional oak barrels with a maximum capacity of 2,000 litres. A tip from wine connoisseurs: this Chianti Classico from one hundred per cent Sangiovese should be given some time after bottling. But if you have a little patience, you will get a lot more pleasure back. And this pleasure is also available in the 1.5 litre Magnum bottle in a elegant wooden case.
Podere Le Cinciole: a small paradise in Tuscany
In the last 20 years, Valeria and Luca Orsini, the owners of Le Cinciole, have succeeded in building up an exemplary winery in the middle of what is probably the most famous wine region in the world - Chianti Classico. When the two of them took over the estate in 1991, not far from the village of Panzano in Chianti, Tuscany, they were both absolute career changers as winegrowers. A total of 30 hectares of land belong to the winery, 13 hectares of which are used as vineyards. At an altitude between 400 and 450 metres above sea level, not only vines grow here, but also around 1,000 olive trees on an area of five hectares, from whose fruits is pressed an excellent extra virgin olive. It was clear to both of them what a great responsibility they had assumed with this challenge. That is why they also made the decision that the cultivation should be organically sustainable from then on. This is why Le Cinciole has been certified organic since the beginning of the nineties. And so it happens that the absolute winegrowers have become passionate organic early-starters.
Red wines and Rosato with the Organic plus of pleasure from the Chianti Classico
The main focus of the Orsinis is without doubt the autochthonous grape variety Sangiovese, the leading variety in Tuscany. Of course, international grape varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah also grow in Le Cinciole - albeit to a much lesser extent. Because the international grapes in Le Cinciole are only used for two of the six wines: for the Camalaione, 70 per cent of which is made from Cabernet Sauvignon, 15 per cent from Syrah and 15 per cent from Merlot. These grapes come from the oldest vineyards of the estate. For the "little brother" the Cinciorosso, on the other hand, are used grapes from young vineyards: 70 per cent Sangiovese, 15 per cent Cabernet Sauvignon, 10 per cent Syrah and 5 per cent Merlot. The rest of the Le Cinciole range is exclusively Sangiovese: both the light Le Cinciole Chianti Classico DOCG, the strong Aluigi Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG, and the top wine of the house, the Petresco Toscana IGT, are 100 per cent Sangiovese. And yes, Rosato Toscana IGT is also produced in Le Cinciole exclusively from the classic Chianti grape. And what makes Le Cinciole wines so special? Very simple: the wine listens in the cellar to the sounds of "Radio Classico Toscana", which has a positive effect on the end product. Luca Orsini is firmly convinced in that.
Typical terroir, state-of-the-art technology & absolute sustainability
The goal that Valeria and Luca pursue with their wines - the so typical of Panzano terroir should be tasted and felt from the first sip and in the highest quality. The foundation stone for this is laid with the use of traditional working methods, which are increasingly recalled. This also goes hand in hand with the organic-sustainable cultivation of the vineyards. Pesticides out and biological methods in, that is the motto of Le Cinciole since the nineties. But Valeria and Luca are also getting support for this with state-of-the-art technologies: sensors on the vines collect and evaluate data in real time. If deviations occur, immediate action can be taken in an emergency. The result is that the use of pesticides is prevented, the vines are optimally supplied and ultimately deliver the best possible quality. Top quality in every aspect - this could also be the motto of the two apartments in Le Cinciole that holiday lovers and wine lovers expect. The two lovingly furnished apartments for four people each in the middle of the winery, the vineyards and woods as far as the eye can see, a picturesque pool and the most beautiful excursion destinations of Tuscany, Siena, Florence and of course Panzano, just a stone’s throw away - these are the perfect conditions for an unforgettable dream holiday.

Jancis Robinson | 16,5 points "Panzano. Healthy mid ruby. Shy nose with hints of sweet fruit and nutmeg. Supple palate with fine powdery tannins, but the finish is firmly closed, indicating this needs much more time." (WS) |
Vinous | 89 points "Le Cinciole's 2013 Chianti Classico is a very pretty, delicate, mid-weight wine. Lifted and gracious in style, the 2013 will drink nicely for at least the next few years. Crushed flowers, sweet red fruit, cherry pit and spices add lovely shades of nuance throughout. This is a very pretty, understated Chianti Classico from Le Cinciole." - Antonio Galloni |

Jancis Robinson | 16,5 points "Mid ruby with the beginning of orange tinges. Peppery and brooding. Garden herbs and a hint of rhubarb and well-absorbed oak. Minerally, dense fruit with a bold tannic structure. Succulent gripping finale. A little unusual and compelling. Can age too." (WS) |
James Suckling | 92 points "A wine with a chocolate, red chilli and plum character. Full body, round tannins and a fruity aftertaste. Made from organic grapes. Drink now." |
Vinous | 88 points "Dark cherries, licorice, mint and anise flesh out in Le Cinciole's 2010 Chianti Classico. The 2010 shows good depth, but less mid-palate pliancy and overall complexity than the best years." - Antonio Galloni |
