Vini Buoni | 4 Sterne |
Wine Spectator | 92 Punkte "A note of pure cherry is underlined by vivid acidity and dusty tannins. Tobacco, iron, leather, earth and tar flavors add depth as this cruises to a lingering finish. 1,500 cases made." – BS |
Vinous | 94 Punkte "Rocca di Montegrossi's 2012 Chianti Classico Vigneto San Marcellino is impressive, but it is going to need a good few years at a minimum to even start drinking well. Dense, primary and totally unevolved, the 2012 is a wine of potential at this stage. A host of dark cherry, smoke, plum and flowers gradually opens up in the glass. Vertical in build and concentrated on the palate, the 2012 has huge upside for those who can wait." - Antonio Galloni |

Wine Spectator | 93 Punkte "Beefy tannins shore up cherry, plum, black currant, earth and tar flavors here. Complex and juicy, with a long, spicy finish. Needs grilled meats or a hearty ragù. 950 cases made." – BS |
James Suckling | 92 Punkte "A structured Chianti Classico that shows lots of tannin and fruit density. Full body, chewy tannins and a chocolate, meat and berry aftertaste. Drink now." |
Vinous | 94 Punkte "Dark red cherry, plum, smoke, licorice and tobacco meld together in the 2011 Chianti Classico Vigneto San Marcellino. Rich and ample on the palate, the 2011 offers striking depth and nuance, along with terrific freshness for the year. Graphite, melted road tar, cloves and leather are some of the many notes that inform the virile finish. This dramatic, large-scaled Chianti Classico needs time, but it is immensely promising." - Antonio Galloni |

Wine Spectator | 93 Punkte "Rich black cherry and plum flavors are augmented by licorice, leather and autumn leaves in this forceful red. Balanced, building to a long, slightly chewy aftertaste that channels the fruit, earth and mineral components. Drink now through 2023. 1,100 cases made." – BS |
Jancis Robinson | 17 Punkte "95% Sangiovese, 5% Pugnitello. Organic. 28 months in barriques (49%) and tonneaux (51%) but only 10% new wood. 24 months in bottle.Dark, meaty red fruit with plenty of spice and hint of oak sweetness (spice and vanilla). Lots of lifted cherry fruit. Thick, chewy texture, suggesting it needs a bit more time. Very good concentration. Masses of everything but all in harmony. I think it would be better with another year in bottle." (JH) |
James Suckling | 92 Punkte "A rich and structured Chianti Classico with dried berry, toasted oak and mahogany character. Full-bodied, chewy and flavorful. Serious. Better in 2017" |
Vinous | 93 Punkte "Rocca di Montegrossi's 2010 Chianti Classico Vigneto San Marcellino is magnificent. Sweet herbs, leather, plums black cherries and cedar are some of the many notes that take shape as this textured, vibrant Sangiovese/Pugnitello blend shows off its pedigree. A wine of distinction and total class, the San Marcellino is gorgeous today." - Antonio Galloni |
Falstaff | 92 Punkte "Sattes, funkelndes Rubin. |
