Podcast 021 | Podere Capaccia - a boutique winery in Radda in Chianti
Alyson Morgan
Podere Capaccia | Radda in Chianti
Buongiorno! Today I'm reporting from a very special place, from a beautiful vineyard belonging to the Podere Capaccia winery. This vineyard is named after a large oak tree. But Querciagrande is not just a large tree, it is also the name of a so-called Supertuscan that caused a sensation in the international wine world in the 1970s. But not only back then!
Alyson, who is responsible for the wines of Podere Capaccia, gives us a deeper insight into the winery. Podere Carpaccia is a small but fine winery in Radda in Chianti, situated at an impressive 550 meters above sea level. The buildings of a historic hamlet date back to the year 1200 and have been lovingly restored in recent years. Mainly Sangiovese is cultivated on three hectares, but also some Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
Just as impressive as the wines is the story of Alyson herself. She comes from a small town in Northern California, fell in love with the world of Italian wine and has lived here for over 20 years. Her path led her via California's famous wineries straight to the heart of Chianti Classico.
Curious? Then let me take you into my Chianti Classico world!
