Podcast 020 | Weather with "weather guru" Piero Lanza from Poggerino

Piero Lanza

Fattoria Poggerino | Radda in Chianti

Piero Lanza from the Poggerino winery in Radda in Chianti, whom I affectionately call the weather guru, once again took the time to talk to us about the weather. Not because we couldn't think of any other topic, but because the weather plays a very large part in the quality of a Chianti Classico.

In this podcast episode, Piero Lanza talks about the factors involved, what is bad and what is ideal and, above all, what a winemaker's heart desires - if a fairy were to come - with great joy and passion.

We talk about the exceptional 2021 vintage, the challenges for 2023 and how 2024 has gone so far. Admittedly, it's only June and it's not yet possible to predict the final result, but Piero tells us whether the initial conditions for a hopefully successful harvest are already in place.

Grab a glass of Chianti Classico and hopefully enjoy the wine and another episode of "A Glass of Wine with Nina in Chianti".
